INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE
Your privacy is important to us. We built PocketShot with privacy at its core because your photos are personal and we respect that.
Here's our approach in a nutshell: We only collect what we need, we don't sell anything, and you control your data. This policy explains exactly how PocketShot collects, uses, and protects your data.
WHAT WE COLLECT
- Email (if you sign in) → Why: To save your preferences and manage your account
- Device info (iOS version, model) → Why: To ensure the app works properly on your device
- Usage data (what features you use) → Why: To improve the app and fix bugs
- Photos (only while processing) → Why: To generate your AI-enhanced photos. Photos may contain faces, but we do not perform any facial recognition, face detection, or biometric analysis
WHAT WE DON'T COLLECT
- Location → We don't need to know where you are
- Contacts → Your contacts are none of our business
- Your photo library → We only see photos you explicitly upload
- Health data → Not an Apple Health app
HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
We use your data to:
- Generate your AI-enhanced photos - This is the main purpose of the app
- Improve the app experience - Fix bugs and add features users want
- Send you notifications - Only if you enable them
Important: We DON'T use your photos to train AI models. Your photos are yours.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES WE USE
We use the following third-party services to make the app work:
- Google Gemini AI (Google LLC) → Your selected photos and style prompts are sent to Google Gemini to generate AI-enhanced photos. Google processes this data according to their Privacy Policy. We do not permit Google to use your data to train their models.
- Supabase → Secure database and file storage for your account
- RevenueCat → Handles credits and in-app purchases
- PostHog → Helps us understand which features are popular (anonymized usage events only)
- Apple → Handles sign-in and payments securely
DATA RETENTION
Source photos: Stored securely while your album exists. You can delete an album anytime, which removes associated photos.
Generated photos: Kept as long as the album exists so you can re-download them. Delete the album to remove them.
Abandoned uploads: If you upload photos but never start generation, they are automatically cleaned up within 30 minutes.
Account data: Kept until you delete your account. You can delete your account anytime from Settings.
IMPORTANT PROMISES
- We DON'T sell your data - Not now, not ever
- We DON'T use your photos to train AI - Your photos are yours, and we don't permit third parties to train on them either
- You control your photos - Delete albums anytime to remove all associated photos from our servers
- AI sharing is required - Sending photos to Google Gemini is how the app works; without it we cannot generate results
